Living in a host family has many advantages. You will have the chance to practise your English throughout your stay and to make friends with English people. We place our students with carefully selected host families who are friendly and caring and offer a comfortable home. Our host families all live quite close to the school, and range from families with children to retired couples. During the summer months, your host family may be a little further away, but you will still be able to walk to school.
We will find the right family for you and will look closely at your special requests. It is important that you tell us on your enrolment form whether you have to have a special diet, have a medical condition or have any allergies . It is also helpful to know whether you would like to stay in a family with children or where there are pets.

Host Family Quality and Safety
London House School of English carries out checks on all our host families to ensure that all the accommodation we provide is of the highest standard. These checks include:
DBS Police Checks to ensure all key adults are suitable to work with under 18's
requiring all adults to sign a declaration of suitability to provide accommodation to under 18's
ensuring that all homes have had Fire Safety checks and have Risk Assessments in place
making sure that all homes have: smoke alarms, CO2 detectors, gas and electrical certificates
initial inspections and regular visits from our welfare staff
giving feedback forms to all students, to help identify any issues
In addition to these checks, London House School of English has a dedicated Welfare Officer that students, Group Leaders and parents may contact if they have any problems or questions relating to our home stay arrangements.
Living in England: General Information
Insurance: London House recommends that you have travel insurance and medical insurance BEFORE you travel to this country.
Money: You should allow enough pocket money to cover your everyday expenses, which may include lunches, refreshments, entertainment, visits and excursions. Banks are closed at the weekends so please make sure you bring enough money with you for the first couple of days. There are no banks in Westgate, but there are cash machines.
